In just a little over 4 weeks, I am going to be floating in the middle of so much water! Me, my brother, sister in law, and our mom. And about a million other people. We’re all taking a Royal Caribbean cruise for a 7 night trip to the Western Caribbean. On the Freedom of the Seas, which seems about in the middle in terms of cruise ship size these days.
I have never cruised before. In fact, I have spent most of my life swearing I would never like to take a cruise. I also used to swear I would never ride the Tower of Terror and now it’s one of my favorite Disney rides. Lesson: never be so sure about things. One day I was talking to my brother who told me he was thinking of taking a Caribbean cruise. I told him he should take our mom. My mom said I should come, since it was BOGO ½ price. Less than 2 weeks later we were all booked on a cruise!
We’ll be spending time on a beach owned by the cruise line in Haiti, wandering the port area in Falmouth, Jamaica, hanging out with stingrays and snorkeling in the Cayman Islands and beaching out in Cozumel, Mexico. Those are the stops, and in between we’ll be enjoying the ship and each other’s company, soaking up more sun, watching the water go by, dressing up and eating.
We’ll spent a night in Port Canaveral before we head out, and after we’re stopping in at Disney World for 2 nights. I am super excited about getting a quick refill of that Disney magic, and even more excited for a chance to hug some of my friends who still live there.
Have you been on a cruise? Tell me all about it! What should I not miss? What should I be prepared for? I’d love to hear.
You will love the cruise and Freedom is a beautiful ship. I have been to all of the ports you will be visiting. Labadee is beautiful. Ride the Dragon coaster it is really fun, not scary, and offers great views. You can Google it for a YouTube video, the swim with the rays is a unique adventure. Cozumel is fun and has nice beaches. Jamaica is a beautiful tropical place but you won't see much of it from the port. When will you be in the World? I will be there May 4 to the 7th. Mary Jane Ross
