pictures and stories about the people I talk about.

Alan

Alan

No photos, please.

Alan is my long time boyfriend. He is smart, funny and kind - my 3 favorite things in a boyfriend. I like him very much and my life would be so much poorer without him in it.

Angie

Angie

me and my favorite cousin at the Denver Zoo.

Angie is my best cousin ever. We were born 5 months apart, and since our moms were sisters and best friends, we spent a lot of time together. She now lives in Columbus, OH and is mom to 3 kids and various cute animals.

Brian

Brian

with his dog Jules, and his girlfriend Karen, who is hiding.

My baby brother was born 11 years after me, thus ending my rein as the only child. He lives in Olathe with his woman, Karen and his dog, Jules. He is a business man with an MBA and does some scary businessman job. When he was younger, he had another scary job as a professional bike rider, doing crazy things many feet in the air.

Daisy

Daisy

Sweet little Daisy came to live with us as a tiny pup, just around Valentine's day in 2008. She is big and tough and wants to be the boss always. She likes to run in figure 8s, play with other dogs, and take her stuffed toys outside.

Danny

Danny

...about to eat a giant plate of nachos at Fuddruckers.

Danny is Hannah's dad. We used to be married, but now we just live together. It is an unusual set up, but it works great for our little family. He is a super brilliant computer programer, plays piano like magic, and has aspergers. He recently discovered that people are nicer to you if you smile at them.

Debra

Debra

and me, in high school.

My best friend since 1980.

Eben

Eben

Super chef friend who moved away to the east coast several years ago. Eben is an awesome friend, understands me like few else, and has taught me many priceless things, and not only about food.

Greg

Greg

When I was teenager, I had a baby I was not ready to raise. I gave him up for adoption and 14 years later he looked me up on the internet. Hooray for the internet. We've been friends since.

Hank

Hank

Henry, the first dog that was my own. He's very old now and has problems with his body and his bean. He's happy though, and still believe he is the King of the World.

Hannah

Hannah

My teenage daughter. She's smart, funny and beautiful. I love her even when she's driving me crazy (in the special teenage way). She has epilepsy and type 1 diabetes. She uses an insulin pump with a continuous glucose meter. She loves choir, theatre, and making metal jewelery. She texts constantly. When she graduates, we are going on a long trip to several European countries.

Jen

Jen

and Hannah, after Hannah's choir master work in 10th grade.

I met Jen at Bipolar group a really long time ago. We hit it off right away. She's the funniest person I've ever known. She is also kind, compassionate and always herself.

Joel

Joel

and me, on the beach in the Yucatan.

Danny and Joel go all the way back to college days, and I was friends with Joel before I was with Danny. Joel's been around long enough to feel like family. He lives in DC. He is wildly generous and always fun to hang out with.

Lindsay

Lindsay

at Thanksgiving.

Lindsay is my baby sister, 14 years younger than me. When she was a kid she liked to dress funny and had an imaginary friend Mary who had a computer as big as a house. Now she's grown up and does hair. Call her if you need some help. She's also super compassionate and a hard core animal lover. She has a cocker spaniel she rescued named Guy.

Luna

Luna

not quite 2 months into her new life.

Luna spent the first 5 or 6 years of her life cranking out baby Lhasa Apsos in a disgusting puppy mill. After being rescued by the state, she eventually came to me, pregnant with three adorable puppies. I had intended to rehome her after the puppies found forever homes, but she's still here with me. She has a lot of issues. She's very scared of life outside the cage and sometimes doesn't understand how life in the free world works. We love each other very much.

Megan

Megan

at Christmas.

My first sister, I was 13 when Megan was born. I sometimes call her Peg or Peggy, although no one else does. She is currently working her tail off going to school full time (to be a teacher) and having a job. She is always busy and always broke, but hopefully that will all change before too long!

My momma

My momma

...often referred to as granny. Those are a couple of the little rescued Bichons she fostered, making her giggle like a schoolgirl.
