I know I went on a trip a couple months ago and didn't tell you guys anything about it, and that's not good (* see below). But it's time for me to get excited about the next one!
I went on my first cruise about a year ago. A cruise had never been in my plans, but when my mom asked me to go with her (and my brother and his girlfriend) I didn't want to say no. I was unsure how it would go, but I promised Danny that if I liked it, and thought he would too, I'd book one for us to go check it out. (If you're on a cruise and you reserve another cruise, they give you some kind of a deal.) So that's what we're doing.
So! We’re headed for the Eastern Caribbean: The Bahamas, St Thomas and St Marteen. We’ll be on the Oasis of the Seas. It's not the largest cruise ship in the world, or even in Royal Caribbean, but dang it's big. Like 6,00oish other guests big. The word is that it seems even less crowded than smaller ships because they've learned lessons about traffic flow and distribution. It sounds legit to me. we'll find out.
Things I Am Excited About:
Looking out and seeing nothing but water and sky. There is nothing like it.
The way you constantly move with the water.
The quiet, with the background of the water.
The dark sky at night.
Letting my skin breathe and lying in the sunshine.
Our balcony. We have a balcony. A tiny private space to sit outside and watch the world sail by.
The quiet of no phone calls or texting.
The high probability I will be standing in an ocean somewhere at some time before it's over.
Sounds fantastic to me.
I do of course have questions that bother me still. This ship is so giant am I going to forget I'm on the ocean? Is it too much? Will the food be as bad and frustrating as last time? Is it going to be chilly? And what are we going to do for excursions? It's so hard to make choices sometime.
I'm not too worried about those questions, they'll all work themselves out. I am a little concerned that I need to get on with the planning. I was glancing at an online group of other people on the same cruise and they're talking about printing their luggage tags and digging out their suitcases. I need to get on it.
Every single one of these kinda miserable gray damp days lately I have been watching my countdown. I'm ready for the sunshine.
[* Long Disney story short; It was a really long trip and it wasn’t my favorite. At first I thought it was all Disney’s fault but I later realized that (as with all things) it wasn’t that black and white. I made some bad choices, and I was not in a good place myself. I doubt I would have had a good time doing anything, anywhere. There were many factors and Disney was only one. Or two.]
