10 days from now I will be getting ready to board a giant ship!
And when I'm done with that I get to drop in to spend a day at Disney World with my mom (who has never been) and visit with my friends there. This is the time for making sure everything's ready. There are still some decisions I need to make, but here's what I know so far.
Our first stop in is Labadee, Haiti. It's a private beach owned by the cruise line. There are several beaches. I know which one I want to go to and from what I understand we will just hop on a tram or a water taxi and head there. Lunch and beverages are served by the ship which is nice. I plan to sit on chair in the sand or stand in the water and feel the waves all day long.
The next day we'll be in Falmouth, Jamaica. The port is not very close to any activities and doesn't really have a beach so we're not going to do much this day. We'll walk around the shops at the port and if we run out of things to do we'll get back on the boat and enjoy it when it's less crowded.
The third stop is Georgetown, Grand Cayman. We're all signed up for an early morning trip to Stringray City to stand on a reef in the middle of the water and get up close and personal with some stingrays. After that we make a snorkel stop where I'm looking forward to using my GoPro. I'm pretty sure I'll be worn out after that and ready for a break on the ship before dinner.
The last day we visit Cozumel, Mexico. My mom and I have reservations at a small, all inclusive beach called Nachi Cocum. The reviews are all lovely and I'm sure we'll enjoy our last day of sand and sun and salt water (and margaritas).
On this ship, you can either choose to eat early, late or whenever you want. There are pros and cons to each I think, but my brother chose so we will be having dinner each night at 8:30pm. That's pretty close to my at home bedtime so we'll see how that goes. My brother is also planning for us to get dressed up every night and eat in the main dining room which is ok by me because I'll have a chance to wear some dresses I don't often get to. There are 2 formal night, but thankfully that doesn't mean I need a ball gown.
I was not planning to have any internet. I was looking forward to an excuse to unplug. But also as I looked at Instagrams tagged with my ship I was also sad I wouldn't be able to post any pictures until I got back. Then I got news that our ship had recently upgraded their internet service and were offing and buy one, get one free deal for the week. My brother and I decided to get it, mostly because it will allow us to message each other when we're not together. I'm pretty sure I'll instagram some pictures, and I might end up downloading some music or a book, but I'm not planning to log on to facebook or or answer texts or anything considered social. (Although there is a chance my brother and I might broadcast some Periscopes @shellycentral.)
So what am I unsure about? Which size suitcase I'm going to need to take. I won't know until I'm actually starting to pack. Which outfits I'll end up packing which also probably won't be decided until it's time to pack. I keep thinking I've decided but then I change my mind. And the big question - whether I should get the Ultimate or Premium drink package. The difference boils down to fresh squeezed orange juice, sparkling water and yummy coffee drinks. How many of those do I think I'll have? How much do I want them? I just can't decide yet. I also haven't made any dining plans for those Disney days but I might not do that until much, much later. It's hard to know how my mom is going to be feeling or what we'll want to by then.
I still have about a week to make those decisions though. I also need mark a million things off the todo list. Lucky for me I love this part of going on a trip though. I'm not worried about any of it.
